Job interview tips for those seeking work in the strata management industry

In the growing Strata Management industry, we are constantly conducting job interviews for different positions such as Strata Agents, Property Accountants, Property Administrators, etc. We have seen what works well, and what doesn’t work well.

Here are some tips that you can use to crush that next job interview!

Show up on time! It’s amazing how many people don’t show up on time, especially for video interviews! This immediately tells your potential employer that you don’t value their time, and is potentially indicative of what your attendance may be like in the future.

Dress professionally! While most people dress professionally for an in-person job interview, it always surprises me how many people show up to a video interview in a dirty t-shirt. This speaks to your level of professionalism and should be taken very seriously. If in doubt, always err on the side of over-dressing for your job interview!

Do your research! Spend at least 5-10 minutes researching the company you are interviewing with, and formulate some good questions. This shows interest on your part, and will go a long way in your interview.

After the interview, spend two minutes to send a quick email to your potential employer, thanking them for their time. This may just cut through the 5 other candidates that they have likely already interviewed that day.

Stay focused. When the job interview is being held via Zoom, it’s easy to get distracted if you’re doing your interview from a cafe, your car, etc. Choose an environment that is free from distraction, and stay focused on the task at hand!

While this list is certainly not exhaustive, hopefully it gives you some good insight into what a Strata Management company is looking for, and will allow you to nail that next job interview!
